After a short rest at the local Riad/Hotel in Fes, we visit the largest Madrassa in Morocco. Then we see the Jewish quarter or Mellah of Fes.

In the afternoon we drive across the High Atlas Mountains passing Azrou & Midelt and then through the Ziz Valley. Later we reach the captivating Erg Chebbi sand dunes in Merzouga.

Day 1

On this 5 day Fes desert tour from Merzouga, you will experience Morocco’s different cultures and ways of living through its amazing landscapes and visit different UNESCO world heritage sites like the Atlas studio in Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. You will also see the largest palm grove in Ziz Valley and spend a night in the antique desert camel ride in Merzouga.

Your tour begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Fes. Then, you will explore the Madrasa Bou Inania, a beautiful old architectural school, followed by visiting the Chouara tanneries which are the oldest in the country.

After that, you will head towards the southeast following the caravan roads to Errachidia via the Middle Atlas mountains – stop in the largest cedar forest to watch Barbarian apes and reach Midelt through the open high desert. You will also drive through the luxuriant Ziz Valley and Tafilalet date palm grove – the origin of the current royal family Alaouite.

Day 2

After breakfast at your riad, you’ll leave to discover the Dades Valley, where you can explore the rock formations known as “monkey toes”. You’ll also visit the Todra Gorge and spend the night in Rissani.

Then, head towards Merzouga, where you can enjoy a camel ride through the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes and watch a beautiful Sahara sunset from your desert camp. Staying in a desert shelter, you can enjoy typical activities that include dinner and drinks.

Before returning to the city, you will discover a traditional souk in Khamlia village and listen to Gnawa music performed by locals. Day 3

Morning departure from your riad to explore Fes el-Bali (Oldest Fes) & its medieval streets. Then you’ll visit the Jewish Quarter known as “Mellah” & ceramic artistry where you’ll watch men chip mosaic tile pieces & women paint fanciful designs on plates.

The tour will drive you through the Middle Atlas & Cedar forest en route to Midelt, where you’ll have lunch. You’ll then continue to Erfoud famous for fossil craft workshops & the Tafilalet date palm grove, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass & the huge open high desert of Morocco.

In the afternoon you’ll mount your camel guided by an experienced guide to explore the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you’ll spend a night in a luxury camp. If you wake up early you can enjoy the amazing sunrise over the dunes.

Day 4

Get up early for a camel trek to witness the extraordinary beauty of a desert sunrise. Later, head to Rissani, a traditional weekly market center, and visit its authentic colorful souk and mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, founder of the Moroccan ruling Alaouite Dynasty. You will also see a fossil craft workshop and the captivating old rocks of the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Continue the trip to Tinghir and Todra Gorges, where you can try sandboarding and enjoy an amazing view from the top of the highest canyon in Morocco. Then, head to Merzouga, where you will be sleeping in a deluxe desert camp.

Our tour will take you across the High Atlas Mountains, where you will see stunning Kasbahs and villages. You will also stop in the cedar forest of Azrou to watch Barbary macaques and drive to Ouarzazate to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ksar Ait Ben Haddou.

Day 5

On day 5 of the tour, you will visit Chouara Tanneries (the largest in Fes) to learn about how leather is made. You will also stop by the Qarawiyyin University & Mosque (the oldest formal university in the Islamic world).

Continue towards Erfoud, stopping at a local fossil craft workshop. You will then drive alongside the sand dunes of the Sahara to reach a desert camp. Guests will have the opportunity to go for a camel ride and enjoy a magnificent sunset.

You will then spend the night at a desert camp nestled among the giant sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Wake up early to watch the sunrise and contemplate the silence of the desert. This is a unique experience that can only be done on our tours.
